Benilde-St. Margaret’s broke open a tie match with three second-half goals to defeat Hermantown 4-2 in boys soccer Saturday.

Henry Scroggins put the Red Knights on the board in the 21st minute, but Hermantown answered with two goals from Quinn Raukar — assisted by Hunter Nelson in the 25th and Jack Johnson in the 37th — to take a 2-1 halftime lead.

Sebastian Meduri drew BSM even in the 45th minute, then set up Rory Keady for the go-ahead tally five minutes later. The Red Knights added insurance with a penalty kick in the 70th.

Hermantown goalkeeper Ethan Aysta finished with 12 saves. Patrick McDonald had seven stops for Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

Hunter Nelson scored twice in the first half to lead Hermantown to a 3-0 boys soccer victory over Mesabi East on Friday.

Nelson opened the scoring in the 15th minute off a feed from Parker Clennon and added an unassisted goal 10 minutes later. Brennan Malmstrom capped the Hawks’ scoring three minutes after that, converting another Clennon assist.

Hermantown goalkeeper Ethan Aysta finished with four saves to earn the shutout. Colton Bialke stopped 13 shots for Mesabi East.

Westonka rallied from two sets down to edge Hermantown 3-2 in girls volleyball, winning 20-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-20, 15-11.

Lilah Conley led the Hawks with 13 kills and 18 digs, while Sophie Schulz added seven kills and three blocks. Kylee Syokke handed out 20 assists. Kadyn Kimpling collected a team-high 21 digs and chipped in two ace serves, matching Conley and Anna Bergerson.
