The Minnesota Star Tribune and Prep Network, a national leader in high school recruiting rankings and coverage based in Plymouth, Minn., are teaming up to co-produce expanded coverage of recruiting topics, rankings and news in Minnesota.

As the Midwest’s largest news organization, the Minnesota Star Tribune is extending its commitment to covering Minnesota high school student-athletes and their journeys. Recruiting is central to that journey for many athletes in the state, and Prep Network is the leading authority on recruiting for volleyball, football, and girls and boys basketball.

As partners, the Star Tribune and Prep Network will work together to produce more stories on recruiting, publish more rankings of top prospects and show Minnesotans how to more closely follow the state’s highest achievers across prep sports. This collaboration will come to life most often on Star Tribune platforms for Star Tribune subscribers.

“Partnering with Prep Network, the best in the business, enables us to grow our recruiting coverage without pulling resources away from the core tenants of our high school sports coverage,” said Chris Carr, the Star Tribune’s High School Sports Franchise Director. “Right alongside our dedicated coverage of teams, state tournaments, issues and exclusive feature stories will be more pieces on recruiting and information on where top athletes from our state are headed next. While it’s a relatively small slice of the high school sports experience, recruiting is important to many students and families in Minnesota – and fascinating for the rest of us to track and follow along.”

“We believe in the power of shining a light on student-athletes on their journeys to compete at the highest level possible,” said Prep Network’s Editor in Chief Jared Nelson. “Partnering with the Star Tribune — one of the most respected names in journalism — lets us further that mission in an even more meaningful way, reaching more athletes, families and fans across Minnesota.”

Howie: Bayfront still may be Duluth’s best idea

Bayfront remains one of the few places where the city still functions the way a healthy city is supposed to function: as a shared public space where people continue gathering together because they genuinely want to be there. Every summer, Duluth remembers that again.

Howie: While others talked revival, Gary Doty did the work

Survival, for many old industrial American cities during the late twentieth century, became the central challenge itself. Doty helped Duluth survive long enough to rediscover confidence in itself again. That is not a minor civic legacy.
