Expect delays on I-35 south of Duluth during summer travel

Travelers on Interstate 35 between the Twin Cities and Duluth should expect traffic delays this summer due to several construction projects.

Drivers will encounter single-lane, head-to-head traffic near Hinckley through October and just south of Highway 210 in Carlton County until the end of August.

Additionally, in the city of Duluth, intermittent lane closures are expected for bridge repair work at 40th Avenue West, Twin Ports Interchange work, and pavement repairs between Lake Avenue and 21st Avenue East.

Motorists should expect delays, especially during peak weekend travel hours. Delays could be significant when heading northbound on Friday afternoons and southbound on Sundays. Traveling during off-peak hours is recommended to avoid backups.

Duluth Airport Authority christens ranch hangar project

The Duluth Airport Authority is celebrating the completion of new general aviation hangars today. It is the first set of hangars built by the Authority in 25 years, marking the beginning of a series of hangar expansion initiatives planned by the DAA over the next decade.

SEH designed and engineered the project, and Kraus Anderson was the construction manager. The total cost was $1.8 million, funded at 90% from federal funding and a 10% local match.

Lincoln Park Farmers Market kickoff party Thursday

As the summer farmers market season nears, the Lincoln Park Farmers Market will host a growing season kickoff event on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Harrison Park.

Over 20 local vendors will offer various products, including garden seedlings, produce, meat, baked goods, canned goods, gluten-free and vegan items, soap, crafts, and more.

Other activities at the market will include live music, free food, a seed swap event, and a lead-testing clinic for youth and pregnant people.

The market offers $25 in matching market bucks for SNAP participants who swipe their EBT cards for $15 at the market. The Power of Produce (PoP) Program will also offer $4 in tokens to kids 18 and under and elders 60 and over to spend on produce. The regular season farmers market begins June 13 and will continue every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Harrison Park. The market will not be held on July 4.
