On Wednesday, Aug. 21, southbound I-35 from 26th Avenue East to 5th Avenue West will be closed from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. Detours will direct traffic along London Road and Superior Street from 26th Avenue East to 5th Avenue West.

On Thursday, Aug. 22, southbound I-35 from 5th Avenue West to 27th Avenue West will again be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. The detour will take motorists via 5th Avenue West and Superior Street to 27th Avenue West.

Additionally, the Blatnik Bridge will be fully closed from 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Upon reopening, new bypass connections from I-535 to both northbound and southbound I-35 will become operational. Howie: Reinert has failed Downtown Duluth

The library debate generated plenty of noise and no resolution. Skywalk conversations took up oxygen without producing a clear direction. The broader Imagine Downtown Duluth effort exists, but still feels like a $300,000 plan waiting for a moment when it becomes real in ways people can’t miss.

Howie: Forsman the best choice for Duluth’s next mayor

Arik Forsman doesn’t posture. He doesn’t spend his time trying to win the internet for a day. He leans into the unglamorous mechanics of governing — budgets, policy detail, stakeholder conversations — and does it with a steadiness that’s easy to overlook if you’re chasing noise instead of results.
