Fred Friedman, previewing the 2024-25 Gophers men's basketball team – "Not enough talent or height or NIL money to compete in the very tough Big 42, or whatever the professional Big 10 calls itself. Dawson Garcia cannot stay healthy. He must use Twins trainers and physicians. Hope Isaac Asuma gets to play. Recruiting Minnesota’s best and keeping them is the key. Credit to Parker Fox for sticking around." Note: The Gophers defeated nonconference Oral Roberts 80-57 at Williams Arena on Wednesday night.

. Hermantown senior lineman Mason Humphreys on the Hawks and their Class 4A state quarterfinal against Orono on Thursday night in Alexandria – "This year the football team has been amazing. The fellas bring a good attitude daily to practice and games, and most importantly they are willing to work hard to achieve our team's goals. I love this group of guys because they are something special. Many players came into this season ready to work and make a difference on the field. We have amazing physical linebackers who do their jobs very well along with sophomore Martin Sleen who came into this season ready to dominate and he did so. Our linemen knew we had to be the best versions of ourselves this year. We have a successful run and passing game, and I think we’re doing that pretty well in these areas. At the start of the season, we had a lot of players intending to be in the position we are in today, but we never looked too far ahead and took things week by week to be successful. Now that we are here our focus is through the roof. Playmakers know what needs to be done now we just have to go in and execute it."

. Grandma's Marathon Marketing & Public Relations Director Zach Schneider on the event reaching its registration capacity today, the earliest sellout in the organization’s 49-year history – “It’s a humbling thing, and it speaks volumes about the work, care, and passion our entire community puts into our race weekend. Registration, in large part, is based on past performance. This community has built something people want to be part of and expect to be a positive experience, and we should all carry some pride in that. Now, the focus shifts in earnest and the hard work starts as we certainly want to deliver on, and hopefully exceed, those expectations come June.”

Howie: Monsters to move to Amsoil

Duluth has always supported teams that show up honestly and invest consistently. The formula hasn’t changed. Don’t overpromise. Don’t disappear when things get hard. Build something people can recognize as theirs. When that happens, this city responds — not with blind loyalty, but with earned trust.
