. The Duluth Art Institute, in collaboration with the Minnesota Humanities Center, has announced an open studio and a closing reception for the artwork produced by participants of the "Take Me Where There Is Life" program.

This series of painting classes was tailored for individuals experiencing memory loss, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia, and their care partners. The classes served as a creative and therapeutic activity, improving participants' quality of life and providing significant support to their care partners. The resulting artwork is dynamic and expressive, showcased in a gallery-style exhibition at the DAI Lincoln Park Building.

"We are thrilled to offer these classes as a way for individuals with memory loss and their care partners to connect and experience the joy of creating art together," said Christina Woods, DAI Executive Director. "Our goal is to provide a space where participants can express themselves freely, reduce stress, and improve their overall quality of life."

. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced the reopening of all I-35/Lake Avenue bridge ramps in Duluth this coming Friday. In addition, the Michigan Street on-ramp to northbound I-35 will also be reopened. However, the 5th Avenue West to northbound I-35 on-ramp will be closed on the same day to allow for crossover construction, which is part of the preparations for the 2025 I-35 mainline bridge project. During this time, left lane closures will continue on both northbound and southbound I-35 between 5th Avenue West and Lake Avenue. The crossover construction is expected to be completed by the end of October, marking a phase in the two-year project aimed at concrete pavement repairs and bridge work on the Duluth section of I-35.

Howie: Bayfront still may be Duluth’s best idea

Bayfront remains one of the few places where the city still functions the way a healthy city is supposed to function: as a shared public space where people continue gathering together because they genuinely want to be there. Every summer, Duluth remembers that again.
