Vikings re-sign Quessenberry, Brandel

By Craig Peters

The Vikings on Monday announced they have re-signed tackle David Quessenberry and guard Blake Brandel.

Quessenberry, who will turn 34 in August, joined the Vikings just before the 2023 season and was pressed into duty by Week 2.

The Vikings opened that contest at Philadelphia with Olisaemeka Udoh filling in at left tackle for Christian Darrisaw. When Udoh was lost (for the rest of the season) to injury, Quessenberry stepped in for 19 snaps and didn't blink.

Quessenberry served as a backup for the next six games before starting in place of Darrisaw at Atlanta in Week 9.

Quessenberry also started three games (at Cincinnati, against Detroit, at Detroit) at right tackle in place of Brian O'Neill over the final four weeks of the 2023 season.

After first entering the NFL as a sixth-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2013, Quessenberry's pro debut was delayed by his diagnosis with T-cell lymphoma in 2014. He was declared cancer free in 2017 and played in his first two games for the Texans.

Quessenberry also has played for the Titans (2019-21) and Bills (2022).

He has made 30 career starts and appeared in 67 games.

Brandel has continued to develop since his selection by Minnesota in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 27-year-old Oregon State product made his NFL debut in 2021 and appeared in 13 games as a reserve/extra offensive lineman and on special teams that season.

In public education, trust is built through repetition — of performance, transparency and follow-through. Wayne Whitwam’s style reflects that understanding. He has avoided the temptation to overpromise, resisted reactionary pivots, and kept the district’s focus on instruction, people and systems.

Howie: Bulldogs fighting for home ice in the playoffs

Home ice is there for the taking. The Bulldogs will either take points from Denver, survive North Dakota, and handle their business against Miami and Colorado College — or they’ll finish fifth, look back at a missed weekend or two, and tell themselves they were close.
