Mayor Roger Reinert's Facebook post on utilizing Reception Room exhibition space: "The first time I was in the Mayor’s Reception room, I fell in love with its architecture and grand design, unique to the building and nod to the ornateness of the exterior and marble of the Rotunda. The Reception Room had essentially been out of commission since COVID, and when I took office on January 2nd it was being used for storage. That had to change! There is no better way to highlight its beauty, and our incredible pool of talented Duluth artists, than by using this room as exhibition space for their art. Hundreds of people a month, from all over our community and literally the world, pass through the Mayor’s Reception Room. I plan on using this room on a rotating basis to continue sharing their talents with all who visit. Up first is Kelly Shamberger. An internationally-awarded and renowned fine artist, representational oil painter, and art instructor. Kelly has been widely recognized in her artistic endeavors through awards and news features, has displayed and sold work in international, invitational, juried, solo, and museum exhibitions, and has received competitive grants. She is one of a select group of artists worldwide who had work included in the Lunar Codex time capsule placed on the moon by the Odysseus Lander earlier this year, and will also be included in the Polaris Collection moon time capsule launching this fall. A heartfelt City of Duluth thank you to Kelly for allowing us to showcase her work! You can check out more about Kelly and her beautiful paintings here: www.kellyschamberger.com"

What was intended as connection begins to blur into something else — something that, in its saturation, can feel closer to a pitch than a public service. An overextended one. Almost like a showroom floor that never quite closes.
