City of Duluth to delegate authority for electrical permitting and inspections to State of Minnesota

Beginning Tuesday, June 4, the City of Duluth will delegate authority for residential and commercial electrical permitting and inspections to the State of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.  Beginning Tuesday, June 4, the State of Minnesota will be accepting, reviewing, and inspecting work related to electrical permits. All electrical permits should be submitted to the State of Minnesota at their Department of Labor and Industry website: https://www.dli.mn.gov/business/get-licenses-and-permits/permits.

Contractors and citizens who have already submitted applications for and received electrical permit(s) from the City of Duluth and whose inspections are currently pending must apply for a new electrical permit through the State’s website and will be refunded the full permit fee. Electrical permits that have had inspections recorded but not completed and finalized yet will need to apply for a new electrical permit through the State’s website.  Refunds for incomplete permits will be based on inspection records and percentage of project completion.
